Our Mission

Conditions are dire in Kakinada, India. 70% of the population lives in extreme poverty, struggling every day to feed themselves. Children are the most vulnerable in the cycle of chronic poverty, forced to work in rock quarries, brothels and manual bricklaying. Almost half of the population’s children are unable to attend school.

Access to a free education gives these children choice, freedom and power over the course of their lives.

Covid-19 Update

Covid-19 has hit the area hard. The YES! school is following all regulations, and is providing tools for at home learning for students. Currently, our teachers and staff are making sure all students and their families are still getting food for the week, as well as clean masks, soap with hygiene education, and hand sanitizer. We are doing our best to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

Years Serving this community

By working with the same team of dedicated staff in India for over 12 years, we are able to stay informed and connected. We can clearly understand what is needed and efficiently respond.

Thousand Students Graduated

Roughly 5250 students have graduated from the YES! school. Out of these graduates, 45% are female students. Keeping girls in school is an important part of YES, as regional attendance for girls is alarmingly low.

Our Programs

Under extreme poverty, we believe it takes more than just academics to succeed. The YES! School provides everything we can from access to clean water and balanced meals to vaccines and medical care.

Academics

YES! Students’ core curriculum includes, math, science, social studies as well as learning to read, write and speak in three languages. A quality, caring staff of teachers work to build a solid foundation and nurture a love of learning.

Girls Rising

With regional attendance levels for girls alarmingly low, we believe getting and keeping girls in school is an important focus. By establishing gender equality, creating a supportive school environment, and implementing a female health program- YES!KW is striving to provide girls with everything they need to thrive.

Shoes

Many of our students walk miles to get to school, and basic footwear is a luxury most do not have. We ensure our students receive footwear so they are no longer traveling barefoot.

Meal a day

Chronic poverty and hunger are unfortunately the reality for the families of the community. We ensure all students receive a quality meal every day they are at school.

Community Involvement

YES! Students are given many opportunities to help in their communities. From feeding the hungry to helping in the local hospital. Service and community involvement continue the ripple of growth and hope.

Medical Care

Chronic poverty and lack of access to quality healthcare is a major concern for children of the community. We provide access to basic medical care and life-saving vaccines.
