Our Mission

Why Education?

The short answer is, because it works! Conditions are dire in places like Kakinada, India. 70% of the population lives in extreme poverty, struggling from day to day to feed themselves. Over 40% of kids do not attend school. Children are the most vulnerable in the cycle of chronic poverty, forced to work in rock quarries, brothels and manual bricklaying. Access to a free education gives these children choices, freedom and power over the course of their lives.

Education changes their lives, the lives of their families, community and the world.

YES! Kindness Works’ mission is to defeat poverty through education and support services.

“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.”

— Nelson Mandela

What’s Different About YES! Kindness Works?

  • A FREE QUALITY EDUCATION AND SUPPORT SERVICES

We strive to provide students with everything they need to succeed. From basic medical care, to shoes, uniforms and meals.

  • GETTING AND KEEPING GIRLS IN SCHOOL

With statistics as high as 70%, girls are missing out on school all together. We work to counsel families on the opportunities of education and provide a safe and positive environment for young ladies to grow and learn.

  • LONG STANDING RELATIONSHIPS “ON THE GROUND”

We have been working with the same on-site directors for years. These relationships keep expenditures low and impact high. We can quickly assess changing needs.

  • COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We continue to educate the children’s parents about the importance of school and listen to their concerns. Taking into account a child in school is a child not immediately producing money for the family. This is a big sacrifice for people in these living conditions.

Older YES! Students are encouraged to take part in community programs, feeding the hungry and giving back in the spirit of kindness.
